We Knew It Was Only a Matter of Time

Every parent knows that once a child can talk, it's only a matter of time until the comments start that make you want to hide.  At Nordstroms, Leah once informed me in her loud voice that a woman had holes in her jeans.  That wasn't so bad.  At the gas station today, Leah quite loudly told me that there was a man with a very big belly.  Of course, the next thing out of her mouth was that I have a big belly because I have a baby in there.  She then pointed out that boys don't have babies in their bellies.  It was only a matter of time.

  1. Have Kimberly tell you what Landon said. Then you'd think you'd have gotten off easy with what Leah said.

  2. I should also have written that this is only the beginning. :)

  3. Oh dear. And kids' voices carry, so you can't even hope that maybe they didn't hear.

  4. Last week was a doozy for us. In Target, as a black woman was walking past, Landon declared, "I like light people. I don't like dark people." Talk about pure and utter mortification. And then he said it again! I could feel my face burn red hot and was too dumbfounded to say anything initially. And then at the "Y," one of the leaders names in KidStuff is Mae. She was telling him her name and as he's figuring out rhyming words, loudly declares "I'm gay."
